After a year full of mistakes, setbacks, and hardship, Bill and Jessica are in the fight of their lives for their 3 precious children. Bill and Jessica both struggle with the illness of addiction. This painful struggle led to their arrest, and during their short stint in jail they placed their three children with a trusted relative.
During their incarceration, and without Bill and Jessica's consent or knowledge, Jessica's estranged mother essentially kidnapped the kids from this relative and took them across state lines. Subsequently, a South Carolina judge gave temporary custody to the children's grandmother; however, local lawyers have deemed that he did so outside of his own jursidiction and without all of the facts. A hearing has been set, and Bill and Jessica need $1500 to hire a lawyer in South Carolina to defend them against this oversight and advocate for their parental rights.
Bill and Jessica have been living in the Interfaith Emergencey Services homeless shelter since their release from jail and have completely turned their lives around. They are proud to maintain their sobriety, and every penny they earn goes toward court mandated costs of treatment and outpatient drug therapy. Their only contact with their kids are tearful phone calls that break their hearts, but these conversations renew their passion.
Since their release, Bill and Jessica have begun faithfully attending a local church and are trusting God that they will get a second chance with their family.
Imagine if your three children were senselessly and illegally taken from you, especially as you work hard at a minimum wage job, maintain your sobriety, and work on putting the pieces back together. Please consider supporting them.
