Please help bring Grandpa Bill home!
Grandpa Bill Taflinger has 3 children, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and he is passionate about his family! Bill is a proud Army World War II veteran who recently celebrated his 90th bithday by riding in a hot air balloon with one of his Grandsons. Bill worked over 30 years for Chrysler before retiring 30 years ago. Bill is a selfless soul and served many years on the Board of Directors of Kokomo's Howard Community Hospital. Bill was married to his wife, Jane, for over 50 years before she sadly passed away from Alzheimers in 2011.
Bill currently resides in Lafayette, Indiana, but was wintering in Florida when he suffered a stroke leaving him unable to move his left side. Bill is currently hospitalized in Tampa, Florida and needs to undergo a minimum of 8 weeks of intensive in-patient rehab. Bill has no family or friends living in the Tampa area and his closest immediate family members, capable of helping him through the rigorous rehab, live over 1,000 miles away back in Lafayette. Bill is currently awake, but very distraught at the thought of being seperated from his family for the duration of his treatment.
Bill's frail condition eliminates the possibility of him enduring a grueling 20+ hour ambulance drive back home. Bill's physician has also prohibited him from flying commercially due to the high altitude air pressure restrictions on his brain. Bill's only viable recourse is to hire the private air-ambulance service, Grace on Wings, that can transport him immediately and quickly back to Lafayette at low altitudes. Grace on Wings is a non-profit, public charity organized under IRS code 501(c)(3) that is based in Indianapolis.
