Bring Bonnie Home

Donation protected

Pictured above: Patricia and Bonnie - both born on the streets of Cusco.

My life was changed forever when seven months ago I decided to volunteer at an animal shelter, Cusco Proteccion de Animales, in Cusco, Peru. I realized how differently animals are treated in South America; seen only as protection for a household and not as a family member. Many dogs are simply thrown out on the street when they become too big for the family to take care of or the family decides they just no longer want them. Dogs are not often vaccinated or spayed/neutered and the cycle of street dogs persists.

While at the shelter I fell in love with a dog named Patricia (black and yellow on the left). She is now home with me in Florida in the USA and living the life she deserves. However, her sister Bonnie (black) is still in Peru. Both born on the street, the two of them were inseparable. They were always together and if one was sick the other just wasn’t herself because she was worried about the other.

Although she is one of the lucky ones and is no longer on the streets, Bonnie is very docile and is often the target for more rambunctious/confident dogs. She spends most of her days hiding in the back room of the shelter and almost never comes out to socialize. It is making her life one of much isolation. My heart breaks that she does not have her forever family yet and that she is without her sister. Every single volunteer who visits the shelter always leaves saying "Bonnie is the sweetest dog". She deserves a home full of love, attention, toys, and a place where she can have a family. I want to adopt her and give her that home!

Help me bring Bonnie home and not only reunite her with her sister, but give her the life and love she deserves.

The fundraising goal will cover her flight, vaccines she must have before coming to the US, and her crate she will be traveling in. Thank you so much in advance for any donations.
