Help Bring Back Smoked Meat
Donation protected
There once was a time when BBQ was freely distributed to all. "Hump Day BBQ" was an institution for many. Birthday's, football games, family gatherings, work pot lucks, or sometimes just because there needed to be BBQ was a mainstay to many.
Then the big smokers left. Leaving smaller offset smokers. The volume of meat dwindled. Showing itself from time to time but less with each passing month. Until finally there was one solitary Ugly Drum Smoker(UDS). Alone, limited in its capacity, the output of meat was a fraction of what it used to be.
Then there was none. The last UDS having seen its last day, retired and went on to the scrapyard bridge.
Now terms like "Hump Day BBQ" are things of myth. Spoken of in whispers around the water cooler. Sightings of smoked meat can only be seen in the limited quantities purchased from shops. Some of them not even using wood to smoke the meat.
The glimmer of hope for free meat has almost been extinguished. To this I say "IT SHALL NOT BE". Together we can bring back the smoked meats. Briskets trimmed and rubbed with tried and tested rubs, smoked for hours with real wood, dripping with the juices.
Pulled pork that has the flavor throughout. Bark thick enough to taste the seasonings. Ribs left in their native juicy state. Not covered up with sauces to hide the lack of expertise. Chicken wings done in a shake and bake way that is nothing like your mother's and will leave you thirsting for that next cold beer.
Help me bring back the smoked meats so that all may partake and enjoy! It's time we stopped this travesty of eating sub par BBQ!
Funds raised will go to the liberating of a backwoods smoker (
http://www.backwoods-smoker.com/
) for the purposes of producing this meat we dream of.
Excess proceeds will be donated to a local food pantry with the first full cook at the pantry to help the hungry.
We'll be making sure that the good karma brought to us shall be shared and we'll be working with local businesses to organize free BBQ for the food pantries with smoked turkeys during the holidays. In addition we'll be looking at setting up classes on making rubs and sauces for the community! So share this with your families, friends, and complete strangers! Let's bring back the BBQ!
