Bring back Nev's smile

Nev (dad) has always been the first to help others. He has worked as a self employed motor mechanic for around 30 years, he has put me and my sister through private schooling on a single income and has worked hard to give his family everything they need. He would do anything for his family and loves his friends. He's also a very independent man and would probably be so embarrassed to know I am trying to help him financially. My parents are so close to retirement age and I just want to see them happily enjoy their golden years, dad has worked his fingers to the bone, been elbow deep in grease daily, summer, winter, sickness, sadness aside he has always turned up to work to put food on the table and clothes on our backs. A few years ago his income protection insurance premiums went up to around $500 a month - an amount that was just not feasible for the income his job provides! he had no choice but to cancel the insurance and instead put aside some money for a rainy day... But I guess none of us expected a rainy year! Last week he was struck with Bell's Palsy, very suddenly one morning. He woke up feeling odd and by the time he got to work he made the very rare call to see a doctor. His doctor suggested he report to emergency at the hospital immediately as it was believed dad was having a stroke! After testing at the hospital was undertaken he was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. It can happen to anyone at any age and causes one side of the face to lose muscle control. Dad's eye needs to be covered as he can't blink his left eye and it causes him eye pain, his left nostril has collapsed and he loses saliva out of the corner of his mouth (as a cruel punishment, Bell's Palsy sufferers also experience increased saliva production) He also has trouble eating and food gets stuck in his cheek which he has to remove by hand as his tongue control is impeded. He needs to hold his left side of his mouth up to talk clearly and not mumble. With a lack of depth perception due to the inability to use his left eye it has made it almost impossible to perform his daily work tasks among other things, it's just not feasible to continue working as normal. Bell's Palsy is thankfully a temporary condition which usually resolves completely in it's own time, usually between 3 & 12 months. His already modest retirement nest egg is now doomed to dwindle down to nothing. This man has worked hard his entire life and I can't stand the thought of him not getting to enjoy retirement. I just can't stand by and watch my dad, the man who would move the heavens and earth for his family, suffer alone and not help him in some way. Thank you all sincerely for your time and generosity. I love you dad and I want to see you smiling again soon.
