Bring Yenni Home to Her Children

Donation protected
Dear Community,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of a family whose world has been turned upside down.

On Friday, August 15th, 2025, what should have been a normal day of hard work turned into a nightmare. ICE raided the Van Nuys Home Depot and took Yenni, a single mother who was simply selling tamales—the way she has for years to keep food on the table for her children.

Yenni is not just any mom—she’s the kind who wakes up before sunrise to cook, who works through the heat of the day with a smile, and who sacrifices everything so her kids never go without. She has always been the sole provider for her family, pouring her love, time, and strength into raising her three children.

Her youngest, only 13, had just started school. That day, he sat in class waiting for his mom to pick him up—only she never came. Now, her 19-year-old son is doing his best to stay strong for his siblings, while their grandmother tries to hold the family together through heartbreak and uncertainty.

Her 17-year-old daughter has been especially devastated. She misses her mom tremendously, but has stepped into her mother’s shoes—cooking for her siblings, cleaning the house, and caring for her little brother. For years she was her mom’s right hand, helping prepare tamales and learning the value of hard work by her mother’s side. Now, those lessons of strength and responsibility are being tested far too soon.

We are asking for your support to help this family with their immediate needs: rent, groceries, childcare, and Yennis's legal fees. Anything you can give, no matter the size, will go a long way in making sure Yenni’s children feel the love of a community standing behind them.

This is more than just a donation - it’s an act of solidarity, compassion, and hope for a family who desperately longs to have their mother back home.

With gratitude & solidarity,
The Community

I'm a customer of Yennis - she used to sell tamales at the Home Depot. I also am in communication with her mom and kids. The beneficiary, Joshuar, is her son.
