Xóchitl has always done everything the right way. She faithfully attended every immigration appointment, followed every rule, and continued fighting to stay in the country legally while caring for her family. But a month ago, during what she believed would be another routine check-in, Xóchitl was unexpectedly detained by ICE. Even after being told she had a clean record and had done nothing wrong, she was informed that she would still be taken into custody.

Sadly, this is not the first time Xóchitl has faced this nightmare. In 2021, during the height of COVID, she was unfairly detained by ICE and transferred to a detention center in Texas. Her daughters and blind mother were left without her and without answers for months, not even knowing where she had been taken. Xóchitl remained detained for 13 long months before finally being released and forced to find her own way back home to San Diego to reunite with her family.

Today, Xóchitl remains detained once again while her family struggles emotionally and financially without her. She is the head of her household and the primary caregiver for her blind mother and her two daughters, who now face an uncertain future without the person who has always held them together.

To make matters even more concerning, Xóchitl is diabetic and has not been receiving proper medical attention while detained. During one of the first visits her daughters were finally able to have with her, Xóchitl shared that she had been feeling extremely ill before fainting in front of them. Her family is deeply worried for her health and wellbeing.

We are asking for help during this incredibly difficult time. Any donations will go toward Xóchitl’s legal expenses, rent and household costs, and medical needs for her mother while the family fights to bring Xóchitl back home where she belongs.

Every donation, share, and prayer means more than words can express. Thank you for standing with Xóchitl and her family during this heartbreaking moment.
