Just a few weeks ago, Winnie's future was uncertain.

At six years old, this sweet Doberman mix from Chicago had run out of options. When her loving family's life changed, they knew, after years of carefully managing Winnie's anxiety around unfamiliar visitors, that she needed a calmer home better suited to her needs. Winnie is a gentle, loyal companion who loves belly rubs, sunny naps, squeaky toys, and simply being near the people she trusts.

Then something extraordinary happened.

A family on the coast of Maine saw Winnie's story and didn't see a difficult dog.

They saw their dog.

They have the quiet home, the fenced yard, the patience, and the experience Winnie needs. They have been working closely with Winnie's family and our team to make sure every step of the transition is thoughtful and safe.
