Bring Willie “Keiki” Asis Home for Healing and Peace

Aloha friends and family,
This has not been an easy 15 months for our ʻohana — especially for those of us here in Hawaiʻi being so far away to support our Washington Ohana. Now that justice has taken place, it’s time for the next step: bringing our much loved family member Willie “Keiki” Asis home to Hawaiʻi.

Willie “Keiki” Asis is a man who truly lives with aloha. He loves singing and strumming his ʻukulele, laughing with family, playing with his grandchildren, and bringing people together with his easygoing spirit. A man of deep faith, he’s always been the peacekeeper in the room and the rock beside his beloved wife, Tanya.
He enjoys golf days with friends, fishing, road trips across the country in a big rig with Tanya by his side, and simply being with the people he loves most.

Born and raised on Oʻahu, Willie moved to Washington in 2001 to build a better life for his family — and he did just that. His children are now thriving adults with families of their own. Eventually, Willie put his truck-driving career on hold to care for his aging mother, taking up landscaping so he could stay close to home and support her.

On August 1, 2024, everything changed.
While showing his usual aloha and kindness, Willie became the victim of a brutal assault by a young man misled by others. He was left unconscious and bleeding from the head in a parking lot — fighting for his life.
He suffered a traumatic brain injury, multiple skull fractures, and was airlifted to a trauma center in downtown Seattle, where he spent over five critical months. During that time, Tanya stayed faithfully by his side, depleting their savings to care for him while keeping a roof over their heads.

Each day was touch and go. Willie underwent multiple brain surgeries, battled swelling, internal bleeding, infections, and eventually suffered a stroke that affected his vision and balance.

The man we knew before August 1 will never fully return — but we thank God every day that he is still here with us.

Since his release just before Christmas 2024, Willie has required 24/7 care. His injuries have affected every part of his life — his speech, hearing, memory, mobility, and independence. He will never again be able to care for himself or return to work.

Tanya, his devoted wife and primary caregiver, has not left his side. She had to stop working and has exhausted their savings covering gas for long medical trips, parking, hotel stays, food, and bills. The emotional, physical, and financial toll has been overwhelming — but through it all, Willie and Tanya remain strong in faith, grateful for each day they have together. And grateful for their Washington community of friends and family.

One year later, Tanya is doing everything she can to fulfill Willie’s biggest wish — to return home to Hawaiʻi Island.

Willie dreams of being surrounded by family, familiar faces, and the healing ocean — the place where his body and spirit can find peace. The cold Washington climate has been hard on him, and Tanya knows that being home in Hawaiʻi gives him the best chance to heal with the love and support of their ʻohana and community.

We’re humbly asking for your support to help bring Willie and Tanya home. Donations will go toward:
✈️ Flights for Willie, Tanya, and a caregiver to accompany him safely
Packing and moving assistance for their home of 12 years
Shipping essential belongings and their vehicles to Hawaiʻi
Temporary storage and housing transition costs
️ Basic living expenses as they get re-established
Ongoing medical appointments, therapy, and care equipment for Willie

Family in Hawaiʻi has offered a temporary place to stay, but the journey home will require significant resources to rebuild their life from the ground up. There’s no guarantee they’ll receive compensation for what happened — but together, we can show them they’re not alone.
Please consider donating — no amount is too small.

If you can’t give financially, please share this campaign and keep Willie and Tanya in your prayers.

From our ʻohana to yours,
Mahalo nui loa.
