For the past 17 years, my husband, William Villines (State #JW5583), has been incarcerated for a crime he has always maintained he did not commit.

William was never given a fair opportunity to prove his innocence. Critical evidence was withheld. Witness plea agreements were not disclosed. Testimony used against him has since been contradicted by scientific evidence. There is also documented evidence that one of the detectives involved in his case has fabricated evidence in other cases raising serious concerns about the integrity of William’s conviction.

Like so many others impacted by a broken and unjust system, William was railroaded by misconduct and false testimony. He has viable legal issues that could lead to relief but without experienced private counsel, those issues may never be fully heard in court.

We are seeking $20,000 to retain an attorney who specializes in wrongful convictions and post conviction relief. The initial retainer required is $7,500, which will allow his case to move forward immediately.

This isn’t just about legal fees. This is about restoring a life.

This is about justice.

This is about a man who has lost 17 years waiting for the chance to come home.
