Bring Wee Toe Home to Scotland

Donation protected
While on holiday in Cyprus, I was swept off my feet by a dashing tuxedoed gentleman of the feline persuasion. He took his daggered paws and set about an assault of my toes, earning himself the nickname 'Wee Toe' and a permanent place in my heart.

With enough character to entertain two menopausal ole' ladies squeezed into a pint-sized package, Wee Toe (or Clyde by his Christian Name) quickly moved himself into our hotel room and claimed my pillow as his own. The littlest hobo's kitten counterpart, he took it upon himself to chaperone his ladies and became our constant shadow and little protector.

Though a ferocious little man, Wee Toe is just a baby at an estimated five weeks old with no Ma’ cat or little siblings to be found.

In our modest hotel room, he thought he had found a home. In me, he thought he had found his person. How was he to know that ‘home’ was over two thousand miles away and the clock was already ticking on our time together?

With limited options and time running out I turned to a local cat rescue organisation on the ground in Cyprus. On Wednesday 3rd July, his Kitty Godmother Raya came to take Wee Toe away to temporary safety at her stray cat café. Raya specialises in rescuing strays and placing them with larger organisations who can find them ‘furr’ever homes back in the UK and Europe. With Cyprus’ cat population thought to total over 1.5 million (meaning more cats inhabit the island than people) rehoming, spaying, and providing care where needed, is a continual struggle.

If Wee Toe (AKA Clyde) is to make the journey to Bonnie Scotland, and cross the river after which he was named, we will need to raise over £500 – the minimum estimated cost of getting him home.

He will need to travel double what the Proclaimers were willing to walk for their sweetheart if we are to be reunited and live happily-ever-after. More importantly he will need the support of an entire Tartan Army if we are to raise the funds required to get him on a flight – it breaks my heart that I am not able to do it on my own. If you can, please donate so Wee Toe can have a family in Scotland – the family he chose for himself. If you can’t donate please consider sharing our story, the further Wee Toe travels across social media the more likely we are to succeed.

A heartfelt thank you from this ole’ lady and her Wee Toe.

Love Paula
