Hi, I'm Diamonique, a hardworking mom, student, and full-time parent to my 7-year-old.

Right now, we’re in an emergency — our electricity has been turned off, and our home has been too cold to live in for a two weeks now. We’ve had to stay elsewhere just to survive.

We also have a beloved cat who depends on us, and I can’t bear the thought of my child or our little family suffering in the cold. The deposit and restoration will cost $1,200, which I don’t have.

With the recent SNAP shutdown, I’m extremely cash poor and don’t receive any benefits at all, which makes it impossible for me to cover this emergency. I’ve also contacted AES about the property, but they will not budge — there is no flexibility, no payment plan, and no alternative.

This all happened because of a recent breakup and a huge change in our household that came overnight. I believed the bill was being paid, and now we’re facing the reality of no lights, no heat, and a home that’s unsafe to stay in.
