Elena Loedding, Melisa Trickett, and Lissy Klatchko are a grass-roots team of filmmakers looking for donations to help cover fees for our first project: A Proof of Concept for an award-winning pilot script called "Until It Wilts."
Logline: After escaping a decade-long abusive engagement, a young woman returns to her dying steel hometown in Western Pennsylvania where she unexpectedly runs into both her childhood best friend and first love - twin brothers who have returned home following the sudden loss of their mother. Their fated reunion leads to the reprisal of the band they started as teens: Bad Leg.
Starring Emelia Sherin, David Leach, Brant Rothbauer, and Noah J. Welter, "Until It Wilts" touches on delicate but important themes of domestic abuse, addiction, grief, and forgiveness through layered plots connecting the characters' presents and pasts, weaving the indie band's professional and personal journeys together like the orchestration of an alternative album in this one-hour weekly television drama series.
This story is based in absolute reality, focusing heavily on LGBTQ+, women, and POC characters from the often-overlooked small towns of the United States.
With a cast and crew made up almost entirely with Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Youngstown-based working class professionals, we aim to create a grounded and incredibly authentic piece, as we believe that stories are best-told by those who understand them personally.
Q: What is our goal with the Proof of Concept?
A: We aim to create a prestige pitch deck to present to production companies and studios to gain funding for the pilot, and, eventually, the entire series. A Proof of Concept allows for more clarity in sharing our vision and creative goals. It also allows for us to submit our work to film festivals and gain more recognition within the industry.
