My name is Bob Cottrell, Settlement Team Co-ordinator for a newly founded community group called Quinte Refuge . Our sister organization is Quinte Rainbow Refuge whose main focus is on refugees who identify as LGBTQ.  We are also partnered with All-Together Affordable Housing Corporation, a local non-profit housing agency that provides housing solutions for low-income persons, including seniors and disabled individuals.  All-Together can issue tax receipts for funds raised and held in trust.

 

The mission of Quinte Refuge is to help bring Afghans fleeing persecution from the Taliban to a safe home here in the Quinte area. Our journey starts with a young Afghan man who is currently a UNHCR refugee in Indonesia after fleeing the Taliban at the age of 13. Private sponsorships are an important program of Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to help bring newcomers to Canada. All funds raised will be used to meet the financial requirements of IRCC to sponsor an individual.
