Hello, my name is My Le, and I am a playwright, freelance director, and theater designer. In 2022, I had the honor of becoming the youngest director in Vietnam to debut at The Hanoi Opera House. I have also had the privilege of working with some of New York’s most prestigious theaters, including Theater for The New City, Theaterlab, New Perspective Theatre, JACK NY, Krymov Lab NYC, and Little Island. Born and raised in Vietnam, I carry a deep connection to the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of my homeland, especially Buddhism, which has been an essential part of shaping my identity as an artist.

One of my long-standing dreams is to bring the beauty, complexity, and profound teachings of Vietnamese culture to the world. This is why I am so excited to introduce my passion project, The Six Paths—a full-length play that merges Vietnamese culture with Buddhist philosophy, folklore, and modern storytelling.

About The Six Paths

The Six Paths is a deeply personal and spiritual exploration of Vietnamese Buddhism. It is a story about self-realization, cultural identity, and the search for belonging. The play is inspired by Vietnamese-Chinese folklore and is guided by the teachings of Buddhism. The narrative follows an unlikely protagonist: a young demon, struggling with his place in the universe, who embarks on a transformative journey to find enlightenment and understanding.

The play spans approximately 70 pages and is divided into two acts, blending traditional Buddhist concepts with contemporary theatrical innovation. At its heart, The Six Paths explores universal themes of identity, existential questions, and the quest for meaning. I believe this story will resonate with audiences on a deeply emotional level, offering both a window into Vietnamese culture and a mirror for our shared human experiences.

Why I Need Your Support

Creating a new play is a challenging yet incredibly rewarding process. Over the past year, I have poured my heart and soul into writing The Six Paths, and now, I am ready to bring it to life with a talented team of actors, designers, and collaborators.
