Gamecock Nation & beyond — one of our own needs our support.

Many of you know Dawn — she is a mom, a wife, a community member, a sister, an aunt, a wonderful friend to so many, and a Gamecock fan!

Dawn has battled health issues since she was a teen, most recently fighting and surviving brain cancer!

Even though Dawn beat brain cancer, her battle has left her with permanent impairments and only allows her to now work part-time, as opposed to full-time, like she was before.

Dawn and her husband, Jimmy, reside in Chapin, SC. Jimmy is Dawn's biggest support, and she is his.

Recently, Jimmy, a veteran, had some scary health challenges of his own, resulting in Dawn giving him life-saving CPR. Jimmy has been diagnosed with asbestos exposure due to his time serving in the Navy and his pulmonologist is sending him to either MUSC Charleston or Duke for treatment. So now the family faces those additional travel and health expenses. Due to Jimmy's recent health challenges, he has had to miss a lot of work and he is running out of his FMLA, which means his job is no longer protected. We thank Jimmy for his service and sacrifice.

Dawn and Jimmy have faced more than one couple should, and we are humbly asking for help. Health challenges, surgeries, doctor's visits, and more result in missed work time, affecting the family financially. They are in jeopardy of losing their health insurance, having to pay outrageous premiums, and not being able to get the medication they need.

We know this is a hard time for so many right now. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. If you can't, we understand - even just a share, prayer, or good thought helps.
