Let me introduce you to my sister, Theresa, and her husband, John Richmond. Theresa is a full-time working mother of two who works extremely hard both at her job and at home. John is a dedicated father who works over 60 hours a week as a mechanic.
Unfortunately, they have been forced to pour not only their blood, sweat, and tears into their new home but also all of their life savings when their contractor ran away with approximately 75% of their mortgage loan money. This contractor either did shoddy work, didn't pay subcontractors, or didn't do the work he claimed he was doing.
They are currently in a legal battle with this contractor, but that doesn't change the fact that they have had to pay both rent and a mortgage for half the year and have spent thousands of dollars of their hard-earned money on this home.
The Richmonds are finally just weeks away from moving into their new home, but unfortunately, it is over budget. Having to pay several contractors to fix shoddy work that wouldn't pass code has brought them to this point. Funds are extremely low, and there isn't enough left to get the house move-in ready. John and Theresa have spent hundreds of hours at their home painting, building kitchen cabinets, installing flooring, and undertaking countless other tasks to cut costs.
Their two children have attended Morrisville schools since September due to issues in the Oneida District, so they drop them off and pick them up at their new home every day.
I want to do this for them because they are so deserving. Theresa has organized several benefits for friends in need; she is the first to volunteer to help anyone who needs a hand and will even pay for a stranger's groceries if they are short in front of her in line.
Please help me bring them home for Christmas.
