The Poetry Salon is on a mission to make high-quality inspiration, education, and community connection more accessible to people around the world. We provide regular classes, editing services, and events at affordable rates, and now we want to become even more accessible, provide more workshops, and come back to the USA to help our family while also serving you!

Our Story: In 2019 my husband, Allen, and I moved to Costa Rica so that we could build the infrastructure and online component of The Poetry Salon, while reducing our cost of living. We've made huge strides in that time and helped over 100 poets get inspired, learn new skills, and even get their poems and full books of poetry published! All this while seeing another country, learning about Costa Rican culture, and developing a deep appreciation for the environment of the tropics.

Why We Need to Come Home: My family has had some recent health issues and needs us to move back home to help out. So, Allen and I are asking for support from our community to help us during this major transition. And.... we're offering bonus content to anyone willing to contribute. This is a way to help us get home to support our family AND get support for your own creative pursuits in the process.

What We Offer You: If you donate, in any amount, we will send you a monthly chapter of my book - in - progress, "You Do Not Have to Be Good: Insights into Becoming a Better Writer and a Happier Human Being." This book offers helpful tips for how to create more meaningful work, as well as hilarious anecdotes about being a "professional" poet. It's on its second round of edits, which means you'll get to see some of the good material I've kept, and some of the really juicy secrets I'll probably have to edit out to avoid getting into trouble when I take the book public.

How the Money Will be Used: Mainly, the money will go to transportation, the high-cost of rent in the USA, and finally, getting our millions and millions of books out of storage and shipping them home to us in North Carolina, so we can be reunited at last!
