We want to bring The Passion to Bristol.
Our Vision
We want to take a 4000 strong procession through the outdoor landmarks of Bristol as we tell The Passion of Christ on Good Friday (15th April 2022).
Starting at Castle Park on Psalm Sunday, Jesus will address the crowds before moving on to Queens Square for Jesus's Last Supper with his Disciples. From there we will take our procession to Lloyd's Amphitheater for the Court scene, before finally ending outside the Cathedral on College Green for the Crucifixion.
The arts have been significantly hit by the pandemic over the past year and a half, we aim to not only bring this mesmerizing story of Christ's sacrifice to Bristol, but to help unite the city while celebrating our rich artistic culture and heritage in a Covid-secure event that will be talked about for years to come.
How Your Funds Will Help
This highly ambitious project will need approximately £30,000 to bring to life. It will be a completely free community event, and therefore we can't rely on ticket sales to help us pay for it. We will be looking to get Arts Council funding and National Lottery funding to support it, but need to raise a minimum of 10% of the monies needed ourselves. The more we raise here, the more likely our applications to funding bodies will be successful.

- Share this campaign with everyone you know - the more we raise here, the less we need to ask for from funding bodies and the more likely our additional funding applications will be successful.
- We will be looking for volunteers whether in stewarding, backstage crew, ensemble performers, videographers, so if you can spare us the time, we'd love to hear from you!
- Is your best mate a web designer? Do they work at a magazine? Or a catering company? A costumier? We have budgeted for many additional costs that are not listed above, and if anyone would able able to offer us charitable or discounted rates for this hugely exciting project, get in touch and see if you can offer support in kind. This all helps when putting together applications to larger funding bodies!
The Work of Together4Bristol (Churches Together in Greater Bristol)
Together4Bristol is a growing movement of churches, prayer groups, and networks across the whole, or spheres, of life. We want to transform Bristol Together - We long to see the whole Christian community working together in unity to be good news in the whole of life in the Bristol region.
Gather
To build relationships and unity - Foundations for Together4Bristol were built through four gatherings for thousands to attend, at Ashton Gate in 2012, a Party at Castle Park, a conference at Colston Hall in 2013, and at College Green in 2014.
The spheres of life have also held various gatherings for hundreds (whether about the arts, global justice, workplace, health and family issues). In 2018, the Politics and Social Action sphere had a conference at City Hall. About half the attendees came from the Christian community, including church leaders, and half were people of goodwill, including the Mayor, Cabinet, Councillors and key people from business and charities.
Grow
To learn from God and each other - Three times a year, there is a Prayer Breakfast with the Mayor, with 50 to 100 church leaders, who pray together for one another, and for the whole of life across the city.
We learn from each other and increasingly gain a vision for transforming the city and the whole of life. At the Going Deeper conference, at the Colston Hall in 2013, there were seminars to explore issues in the spheres of life. There have been numerous other smaller gatherings across the spheres, prayer networks and churches, such as Keyboard's forums for pastors of black-led churches, to learn together and for prayer.

To act together and as individuals - Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) is working with 18 churches to provide mentors for children in local schools. Social Prescribing helps GP surgeries link patients with activities in local churches. There are Breakfast Clubs in 30 schools and Christians played a key role in Feeding Bristol, which fed 5k children over 50k meals over the summer holidays in 2019, with the help of about 600 volunteers from local companies. In 2020, the Bristol Churches Winter Night Shelter involved 16 churches and 500 volunteers.
