Bring the Joy of Movies (And Superman) to Kids in Need

ReelOutreach is back (and hopefully better than ever)! After taking a hiatus for a little bit to reorganize, we're ready to get back to what we love: bringing the joy of movies to kids who need it most. We're still working on a few changes (more on that in a bit), but are ready to get back to theater events.

Since we're all about hope and trying to make our corner of the world just a little bit better, it makes sense to kick off our return with the hero who stands for the same: Superman! DC's iconic superhero is finally returning to the big screen this Summer and we're hoping to take as many underprivileged kids to see it as possible. Which is where you come in.

You may have noticed, our goal for this current fundraiser is significantly higher than previous events. There are two reasons for that. First, prices in general continue to rise and the cost for all parts of the event are going up. Second, and more importantly, we're treating this as a general fundraiser for ReelOutreach.

The main reason for our hiatus was to get things in line for our bigger goals. We want to expand beyond singular events in our area, and bring the joy of movies to multiple locations; eventually, all across the country.

We also want to work with hospitals to bring movies directly to patients unable to get to the theater, and more. Part of this entails expanding ourselves via promotional stuff (ads, branding, basic business cards, etc). Doing these things obviously requires money, and thus we have to go beyond simply fundraising for one event at a time.

The goal here then, would be to secure funding for those future projects, while allowing us leeway to continue theater events at the same time, without having to come back to GoFundMe every month. We have some other, fun, fundraising ideas we're hoping to implement as well, but again...funds are needed to get the ball rolling there.

Rest assured the money you donate will be spent to bring the power of film to kids in need in an even bigger way than before. We will, of course, prioritize this first return event and will make sure our Superman screening can be the best it possibly can for those in attendance.

At ReelOutreach, we believe everyone deserves a night at the movies. Kids, who have no control over their circumstances, oftentimes need it the most. While many consider this a luxury, for kids in need it’s a chance to escape and feel normal. For those in foster care, orphanages, or group homes, the funding simply isn’t available for them to have the opportunity for such an escape.

Since 2018, we've taken hundreds of kids from various foster organizations and advocacy groups to see the latest movies in theaters; many of whom had never been to a theater before at all. As such, even a simple $1 donation is greatly appreciated and can go towards giving these kids the opportunity for something they may not normally have.
