Bring Team Ireland to the World Kendo Championship!

The Irish National Kendo Team is heading to the 19th World Kendo Championships (https://wkc2024.com) in Milan, Italy on July 4-7, 2024 and needs your support!

Since August 2023 our team candidates have committed blood, sweat and tears to be selected. Balancing regular training with work, school, and family commitments. Attending monthly training camps in Dublin, as well as travelling abroad to international competitions to hone their skills. With record attendance, this year's selection process was the most competitive to date.

Our team selection is now complete, including, for the first time in Kendo na hÉireann's history, a full Women’s Team at the WKC.

We are also excited to include two junior squad members who represent the future of Irish Kendo in our men's team. With our youngest ever competitor aged just 17.

Representing Ireland at the World Kendo Championship is a huge milestone in the kendo careers of our team members. It is an incredible honour and privilege to represent their country, kendo community, family and friends.

However, attending a world-level event like the WKC is an expensive affair, especially for a team made up entirely of amateur athletes. While Kendo na hÉireann strives to support our athletes as much as possible, much of the competition costs (upwards of €900) are covered by the competitors themselves.

Our fundraising target of €3200 will contribute €200 per team member for expenses like competition entry fees, meals, transport and accommodation. We welcome any donation big or small - your support will go a long way towards helping our team members achieve their dreams!
