My name is Tanya Lewis and I’m an independent artist and choreographer. My dance journey started as a child dancing in the living room and led to a professional career with Mounarath Powell Dance and producing live work. It has accumulated to now, a long-awaited goal, making a dance film for the first time in ten plus years.
The film explores how our identities are shaped through our relationships with others. To physicalize this concept, two dancers perform a series of duets while connected inside the same t-shirt. This "skin" becomes a metaphor for the invisible bonds between us—bonds that can be both limiting and liberating, creating a constant, physical dialogue of push and pull.
This film will be a significant addition to my artistic portfolio and will be submitted to film festivals nationwide. But to bring this vision to life, I need your support.
Your contribution will directly fund the creation of this piece, covering essential costs such as:
A professional videographer and filming location
Rehearsal space and costumes
Festival submission fees
And most importantly, providing fair compensation for the incredible dancers whose artistry is the heart of this project.
Thank you for believing in independent art and helping me bring this project to the screen.
