Hi, my name is Caroline, and I am hoping to raise funds to help bring my terminally ill son, Stephen, home from Australia.

In December 2024, Stephen was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). He is a single parent to his 14-year-old daughter, Lilliana. Since his diagnosis, and from the age of just 12, Lilliana has taken on the heartbreaking responsibility of helping to care for her dad.

Since March 2025, Stephen has been unable to work or live a normal life with his daughter, and his condition has deteriorated rapidly. He is now in a wheelchair, requires round-the-clock care, and has recently undergone major surgery to have a PEG feeding tube fitted.

Our wish is to bring Stephen and Lilliana home to Northern Ireland, where they can be surrounded by family, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

We are hoping to raise £60,000 to cover the costs of travel, including flights for myself, my other son Ryan, and a registered nurse to accompany us to Australia and safely return home with Stephen and Lilliana. Stephen will also require specialist travel insurance due to his condition.

In addition, we will need to provide suitable accommodation for Stephen’s complex needs. This includes building a self-contained modular home beside my house, as well as making necessary adaptations such as installing a stairlift and converting the main bathroom into a wet room while the build is completed.

Stephen is a kind and hardworking man, and above all, a devoted father who has always been there for others. Now, he needs our help.

As a mother, this is the most heartbreaking experience I could ever face. No parent should have to watch their child deteriorate before their eyes.
