STATIC is a short film that follows Colt, a restless young man whose insomnia manifests as a buzzing static he struggles to escape. His dive into reckless vices and meaningless encounters leaves him wired, empty, and on the search for something real. Through sleepless nights, he wrestles with intimacy, desire, and the constant hum of something just out of reach.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE

Colt is restless but real, sometimes selfish, sometimes lost. His struggles show the messiness of human connection, the push and pull of dependency, and the exhaustion of a mind that never truly stops. I’ve drawn from personal experiences of mental health, ADHD, insomnia, and navigating relationships to shape the frustrations of this frustrating character. I hope viewers can step into Colt’s world and recognize someone they know, or even themselves.

I’m Crystal, a junior at Montana State University studying Integrated Lens-Based Media. As a young filmmaker and writer, I am honored to bring STATIC to life and to make a film that captures modern dependence, the pull of vices, and the tension of a brain that never slows down.

STATIC needs your help to come to life! We’re gearing up to wrap production, and even with an incredible crew, making this film will require resources, dedication, creativity, and a bit of funding.
