Bring Staceyann Chin to March on Washington Film Festival

Loved Ones, I’m raising funds to bring my very favorite activist, Staceyann Chin, to the March on Washington Film Festival on Oct 11 to support her film, A Mother Apart.
In a remarkable story of healing and forgiveness, Jamaican American poet and LGBTQ+ activist Staceyann Chin radically re-imagines the essential art of mothering. In seeking her elusive mother — a trail that leads to Brooklyn, Montreal, Cologne, and finally, Jamaica — Staceyann and her daughter forge a new sense of home.
I’ve been grateful for Staceyann for over 10 years; her incredible spoken word poetry, bravery in activism fighting for women, racial and LGBT equality, and her deep love for her daughter, and intentional parenting all move me deeply.
Staceyann has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and 60 Minutes, and her poetry has been featured in the New York Times and the Washington Post. She is featured prominently on Meshell Ndegeocello’s new album No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin. I've added a link to one of my favorite songs on the album so you can feel Staceyann's power. She also is the founder of Kindred on the Rock, a 70-acre homestead for artists, and activists, building community, tending the land and seeking freedom as the first safe space for queer people to convene in Jamaica, a notoriously homophobic country.
Please support me to support Staceyann’s appearance at the Festival. It's a dream come true for me to work with and continue to be inspired by her.
