Bring Saul Elkin Home!
Donation protected
As many of you know, our beloved Saul had a stroke at the beginning of November that has set him back significantly. He was in Buffalo General for a month and then moved to the inpatient rehabilitation facility where he currently resides. There have been several setbacks to his progress and being away from home for over two months now has been a huge mental health challenge. He's still cracking jokes, telling stories, and being a sweetie and we are frankly DONE with him not having the comfort, security, and care he deserves just because his level of physical impairment is more profound than we had hoped at this point. To accomplish our mission, he will need a home aide, hospital equipment, and adaptations (including possible interior construction) to the house to support his mobility. The care we need is not covered by his insurance. We are doing our best to coordinate this for the long term picture, but are asking for a one-time financial boost to get things set up quickly and get him home.
Saulie has spent his life personifying generosity of spirit to the Buffalo theater community, to generations of students at the University of Buffalo, and to his friends and family. We humbly ask that if Saul has ever impacted your life, and if you are financially able, you help lift him up in a tough moment. If you've ever been filled with joy and community at Shakespeare in Delaware Park, if he's ever extended kindness to you or helped you on your path, if he's ever told you the same anecdote multiple times, we ask you consider contributing any small amount. This man has an ocean of love for this community; we'd love for him to feel it returned.
BRING SAULIE HOME! Chant it with me now!
(with love and gratitude, Saul's kids: Becca, Emmy, Todd, and Evan)
