Bring Sage Home: Support for Travel and Care

Donation protected
Born 3 weeks early, I had my beautiful son, Sage. Sage is vigilant and has been through so much since he had his first breath. Sage has been here on earth for 49 days and unfortunately, all 49 days he has been in the NICU. The days pass by and so much has happened. I don't have enough space to type it all out. In a nutshell, I am raising money for my mom and me to travel to Lafayette, LA from Lake Charles, LA. We do not know how long he will be there or how long we need to be there yet. I have been without my child after having him and we're going on 2 months now. We need help with travel expenses to be with him so that Sage can have a G-tube put in. It is a surgical procedure that will allow Sage to come home with a permanent feeding tube. He had a brain bleed. More on that below. The main issue is he is not latching and taking a bottle like he should. The G-tube will allow him to finally come home while I will be trained on how to care for him with the G-tube. The brain bleed he had has also affected his growth and production overall and I don't mean literal weight. He was 7 pounds and 7 ounces at birth. He's currently 9 pounds and 12 ounces. The issue with the nippling must be resolved. Getting to Lafayette and having this procedure done will allow him the nutrients he needs while we work with him on the sucking and nippling with specialists. As for the brain bleed, he is considered a child with special medical needs and there are many possible side effects from his subarachnoid hemorrhage as he grows. We do not know what caused this brain bleed. In detail, this hemorrhage is in the space between the brain and the tissue covering the brain, which is a medical emergency, and is usually from a bulging blood vessel that bursts in the brain (aneurysm). It may lead to permanent brain damage or death if not treated promptly. To treat the subarachnoid hemorrhage and its cause, you may need surgery to remove large collections of blood or relieve pressure on your brain if the subarachnoid hemorrhage was due to an injury. We will cross that bridge when we get to it, but the bleeding has stopped!! Sage was my rainbow baby. My little miracle. I was told I'd never have children. My husband passed 2 years ago and I started dating again and boom, I got my gift. My special boy!

ANY monetary amount to be with my son and close to him will be a huge help. Hotel room, gas, food, and essentials I need for along this next piece of Sage's journey begins soon and many have told me to create this GoFundMe. We're tired and stressed... but we will continue to FIGHT for Sage! Nothing will stop me from being the best first-time mom ever at 34 years old.

Thank you for allowing me to share part of our story. If you can't donate, please share. We need help and I was always told it takes a village. We already had to go to Lafayette once. This is hopefully the last time. God bless.
