Sadie is our rescue dog from Indonesia, and I’m trying to bring her home to Australia.

We found Sadie when she was just a tiny puppy living on the streets. She was little, hungry, and needed someone. I couldn’t leave her there knowing she had no real safety, no home, and no one properly looking out for her.

From that moment, she became part of our family.

We were living in Indonesia at the time, and Sadie quickly became our whole life. She became one of the main reasons we stayed for as long as we did.

Eventually, our circumstances changed, and we had to return to Australia to work, save money, and rebuild our lives. Australia is home for me, and all I want now is for Sadie to be here with us too.

Right now, Sadie is safe and being cared for, but she is still not home.

We have made sure she always has somewhere safe to stay and someone looking after her while we are unable to be there.

Sadie has had to stay behind while we complete all the steps required to bring her to Australia. She doesn’t understand why we leave, when we are coming back, or why she cannot simply come with us.

That is the hardest part.

All I want is to give her the life she deserves- a stable home, a soft bed, proper care, cuddles and love every day, and the chance to never be left behind again.

Bringing a dog from Indonesia to Australia is not simple. It is a strict and extremely expensive legal process. Sadie cannot simply get on a plane and fly directly to Australia. She must complete every required step before she is allowed into the country.

The process includes:

• Veterinary checks and ongoing medical care

• Microchipping and rabies vaccinations

• Rabies blood testing and parasite treatments

• Export permits and government paperwork

• Support from an experienced animal relocation company

• Travel through an approved country

• At least six months of accommodation and care during the required waiting period

• International cargo flights

• An Australian import permit

• Australian quarantine fees

• Transport after she is finally released

The total cost is expected to exceed $20,000, on top of everything we have already paid and will continue paying for her ongoing care.

Without help, I will continue working and saving until I can make it happen. But every additional month it takes is another month Sadie remains separated from us.
