Friends and Family: We are calling on our village for help. No one ever expects the need for this, but here we are. In January, while wintering in Florida, Ron went into Congestive Heart Failure and was hospitalized in ICU. He made it through and from there has been in a rehab facility trying to regain strength and mobility. Unfortunately, as many are aware our health care system is severely broken and the only rehab facility that would accept his Medicare/Humana insurance is subpar at best. On top of caring for Ron, Darla and Krista have had to fight and advocate for him to get some of the most basic care, let alone any sort of actual “rehab.” Humana has notified us that only 21 days of care is covered, which he has exceeded and they will no longer continue coverage due to a “lack of progress.” Which is laughable considering there has been very little actual therapy. We have put in appeals, but at this point it’s self pay and it’s not cheap. We just need to get him home to Michigan at this point. Which is going to come with another set of challenges and cost. We would be forever grateful for any help. As stated before, sometimes it takes a village, and we are so very thankful for ours!
