Bring Richard Fong Home!

On July 22, 2019 Richard Fong - father, husband, brother, son, Marvel Comics fan, avid runner, technology guru and friend to all - was hit by a car on a bike ride to work. (The one time his Spidey-sense failed him!)

Richard is making inspiring progress in his rehabilitation at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.  Richard's wife, Theresa, recently made the difficult decision to leave her full-time position so that she can provide Richard direct care... a full-time job in itself! In addition to these rehabilitation challenges, it turns out that a life-changing spinal injury is incredibly expensive!   Thankfully, Richard's insurance is covering most of those costs, but there are many costs that will not be covered. 

Most significant and time-urgent of these costs is adapting Richard's home to his new needs.   Ramps, lifts, modifications to doors/stairs, grab-bars... all need to be constructed and installed before he can be brought home.  These modifications will likely surpass the goal amount set for this campaign.

Richard's insurance deductible ($4000) has already been met and the Fongs will likely be hitting that out-of-pocket limit every year for the next few years.

Richard is now on a variety of prescriptions. It's unclear how much of those costs will be covered by insurance moving forward.

The Fongs will need to hire out all those things that we take for granted as daily routine around the house - lawn and snow maintenance, home repairs, upkeep, etc.

FYI. Richard is the only authorized person to withdraw money from this campaign.  Any funds you donate will be going directly to him and his family (after the 2.9% GoFundMe fees).
