Hi, my name is Aidan, and I’m a 25-year-old student currently pursuing studies in medical imaging, with a big dream to combine my passion for science, health, and entrepreneurship to make a real impact.
Introduction
In 2019, I co-founded Adventus Life Foods with Dr. Hassan Qureshi, a highly reputable and knowledgable scientist whose expertise excel in nutraceuticals. Adventus is a company focused on the research and development of functional health food ingredients that support the body in natural and effective ways. Our flagship innovation is ResiFiber: a novel, plant-based ingredient with powerful prebiotic and dietary fiber effects.
What makes ResiFiber unique is that it not only promotes gut and metabolic health, but also acts as a low-calorie sweetener — about half as sweet as sugar — while improving taste and texture in a wide range of food and beverage applications. Below are other key health benefits that ResiFiber contains:
- 100% plant-based with a digestion-resistant property (keeps calories low)
- Healthy source of soluble dietary fiber (achieved 51% total dietary fiber count, confirmed using AOAC testing through 3rd party labs)
- Prebiotic, supports gut health and a healthy microbiome
- Helps lower cholesterol and regulate blood sugar levels
- Supports weight management and satiety
As mentioned, ResiFiber is an excellent binder that works well with other ingredients to achieve finished goods. I will outline below some different food and beverage applications that ResiFiber can be incorporated into:

- Beverages such as Sodas and Sports Drinks

Over the past few years, we’ve gone through rigorous R&D at the Concordia University of Edmonton, developed multiple prototypes, and validated our proof of concept. I’m also proud to share that we’ve filed for a US/Canada patent to protect our innovation and technology platform.
But now, we have reached a critical point.
What We Need
To bring ResiFiber to market — to scale production, complete rigorous testing, navigate regulations and health claims, and get this product into the hands of people who need it — we need initial capital. This project has been helped by close family and grants in Alberta, but it requires more to get to the finish line. Keep in mind that my initial $50,000 CAD goal will only cover costs such as the immediate lawyer fees and allow us to continue R&D at the Saskatchewan Food Industry and Development Centre. However, the remaining objectives will all need eventual funding to bring the product to market.
That’s why I’m reaching out for help and trying to spread the word of my idea.
With your support, we can:
- Produce medium-scale batches of ResiFiber at the Saskatchewan Food Industry and Development Centre
- Conduct animal and human clinical trials required to meet regulatory standards from the FDA and Health Canada in order to secure and apply for GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) Certification
- Perform Human Clinical Studies for Health Functionality Claims. Studies such as GI tolerance, dietary fiber effect, and prebiotic effect
- Perform Safety Studies (toxicology, genotoxicity, and repeat dose toxicity studies in animal models)
- Product Testing Validation (compositional, nutritional, and safety testing of ResiFiber)
- Full Carbohydrate Analysis and Full Nutritional Analysis including caloric value
- Perform full quality profile bonding analysis
- Cover Lawyer Fees for Patent Application (US/Canada)
