Sono finiti i giorni in cui si poteva andare al camioncino con le proprie bottiglie di vetro per farsene riempire con latte crudo biologico alla spina e scambiare quattro chiacchiere con gli agricoltori… o forse no?

Puoi fare la differenza. Hai la possibilità di aiutare un’azienda agricola indipendente a riportare il latte crudo (e molto altro) in città.

Biolà è un’azienda agricola biologica situata a Fiumicino, a pochi chilometri da Roma. Impresa familiare da oltre un secolo, Biolà vende i suoi prodotti direttamente ai consumatori dal 2006, parcheggiando i suoi furgoni refrigerati più volte alla settimana nelle piazzette di Roma per rifornire gli abitanti della città eterna con latte crudo, carne grass-fed e altri prodotti biologici dell’azienda. È l’unica fonte facilmente accessibile di latte crudo a Roma. Poiché non viene trattato ad alte temperature (pastorizzazione), ma refrigerato e filtrato, il latte crudo conserva intatte le sue proprietà nutrizionali.

In quasi vent’anni di vendita dei prodotti dalla fattoria alla città, Biolà si è sempre conformata ai controlli regolari di sicurezza e igiene dell’Azienda Sanitaria Locale (Asl), l’autorità sanitaria romana.

Tuttavia, qualche mese fa, il 1º luglio 2025, l’Asl ha vietato a Biolà di vendere i suoi prodotti dai camion refrigerati, facendo riferimento a un regolamento del Ministero della Salute datato 30 aprile 2002. Il regolamento specifica che la vendita itinerante di prodotti alimentari negli spazi pubblici può essere effettuata solo utilizzando un veicolo classificato come «uso negozio». In questo contesto, a Biolà non è più permesso utilizzare i suoi tre furgoni refrigerati per vendere i prodotti.

In tutti questi anni di attività, l’Asl non aveva mai citato tale regolamento, motivo per cui la decisione è arrivata come uno shock.

Questa nuova situazione ha inflitto un duro colpo all’attività di Biolà, dimezzandone i ricavi abituali. Ora, gli agricoltori si fermano in città solo per consegnare ordini online di almeno 25 €. Questa soluzione non è ideale, poiché limita i consumatori a basso reddito e chiunque desideri fare acquisti di importo minore.

Per poter tornare a vendere a Roma, Biolà deve acquistare veicoli specializzati per uso negozio. Un nuovo veicolo commerciale conforme alle norme antinquinamento della città di Roma costa circa 100.000 €. L’azienda agricola intende acquistarne due.

Gone are the days where you could walk to the truck carrying your own glass bottles, to have them filled with fresh, organic raw milk directly from the tap and chat with the farmers…or are they?

Biolà is an organic dairy farm located a few miles outside Rome, Italy. A family business for over a century, Biolà has been selling its produce directly to consumers since 2006, parking its refrigerated trucks several times a week in Rome’s piazzette (city squares) to supply dwellers of the eternal city with raw milk, grass-fed meat and other organic farm produce. It is the only easily available source of raw milk in Rome. Because it is not treated through high temperatures (pasteurization), but refrigerated and filtered, raw milk retains intact nutritional properties.

In almost twenty years of selling produce from the farm to the city, Biolà has always complied with the regular safety and hygiene checks of the Azienda Sanitaria Locale (ASL), the Roman health authority.

However, a few months ago on July 1, 2025, the ASL prohibited Biolà from selling its produce from its refrigerated trucks, referring to a regulation of the Italian Ministry of Health dating from April 30, 2002. The regulation specifies that the itinerant selling of food products in public spaces may only be done using a vehicle categorized « for commercial use ». Under this framework, Biolà is no longer allowed to use its three refrigerated trucks to sell produce.

In all those years of business, the ASL had never cited that regulation, which is why its decision came as a shock.

This new situation has dealt a huge blow to Biolà’s activity, halving its usual revenue. Now, the farmers only stop in the city to deliver online orders of €25 minimum. This solution is not ideal, as it restricts small-income consumers and anyone wishing to make a smaller purchase.

To be able to sell in Rome again, Biolà needs to purchase specialized commercial-use vehicles. A new commercial-use vehicle that is up-to-date with the anti-pollution norms of the city of Rome costs approximately €100,000. The farm is looking to purchase two such vehicles.
