It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved Rahul Putta, just 31 years old, who tragically lost his life in an accident in Tampa, Florida, in the early morning hours of Monday, August 24, 2026.

Rahul was a young man with a bright future ahead of him. He came to the United States with dreams of building a successful life and creating a better future for his family back home in India.

Through years of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, Rahul successfully completed his Master’s degree and was looking forward to beginning his PhD at the University of South Florida. At the same time, he was actively looking for job opportunities and preparing to begin the next chapter of his life and career.

Beyond his academic and career aspirations, Rahul was a very active and valued member of the community. He loved being involved, bringing people together, and helping others whenever he could. Cricket was one of his greatest passions, and as an active cricket player, he formed many friendships and touched many lives both on and off the field.

At only 31, Rahul had so many dreams, responsibilities, and plans for the future. Tragically, all of those dreams were taken away far too soon.

Rahul was unmarried, and his family in India had placed many of their hopes for the future in him. He was working hard toward establishing his career so that he could provide financial security and support for his family. His sudden passing has left his loved ones facing not only unimaginable grief, but also tremendous financial uncertainty.

We have created this GoFundMe to help Rahul's family during this devastating time. The primary and immediate purpose of this fundraiser is to cover the expenses involved in transporting Rahul's remains from the United States to India, so that he can be brought home to his family and they can perform his final rites surrounded by his loved ones.

The remaining funds will go toward supporting Rahul's family in India, helping them with their immediate needs and providing some financial stability as they cope with the sudden loss of their beloved son and the future support they had hoped he would provide.
