Rabbit Hole is a surrealist dark comedy feature film written, produced by, and starring Sage Gunning and Tori Van Loon, and directed by Andy DeAngelo and Gabrielle Schlein.
The story follows Sage and Tori—two close friends and emerging artists in their twenties—as a seemingly casual night out unravels into a psychologically charged odyssey. Though neither identifies as an addict, both lean on substances, nightlife, and constant distraction to sidestep the pressures of adulthood, capitalism, and creative purpose.
Rather than glamorizing or condemning substance use, Rabbit Hole lives in the gray area—capturing a liminal space many young adults inhabit: outwardly functional and ambitious, yet quietly avoidant.
Inspired structurally by Alice in Wonderland, the night unfolds through encounters with a series of archetypal neighborhood characters, each mirroring fragments of Sage and Tori’s inner conflicts. As they search for their missing friend Zoey, the city around them grows increasingly uncanny—at once seductive and threatening—pushing them toward a choice: continue spiraling downward, or finally wake up.
We are raising funds to bring Rabbit Hole to life. Donations will directly support cast and crew wages, location rentals, insurance, production design, props, and other essential costs.
Our goal is to begin production in mid-July. With our script complete and our cast, crew, and locations already in place, the final step is securing the funding needed to begin
principal photography.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make this independent feature film possible. Thank you for supporting Rabbit Hole.
