Synopsis

Pronouncement of Doom is a horror-action-fantasy short about a knight on a quest for vengeance. Along the way, he encounters a pilgrim traveling to a holy site to reaffirm his faith. Their philosophies clash as the two are stalked by undead creatures amidst the darkness of the forest. The film tackles themes of religion, revolution, and revenge.

Why this movie

We want to make the most badass student film of all time. Student films commonly seek to be the most emotional, complex, or experimental as possible. All of those are wonderful, but we want to do something different. Something more immediate. Something with depth, yet also something accessible that anyone can resonate with from being sheerly awesome. We want to turn heads. A knight, demons, heavy metal, action.

Influences

Our pool of influences is deep, and our film is rich because of it! Pronouncement of Doom aims to be a dark, horror-fantasy-action story in the vein of Berserk, stylized as a grainy old horror movie akin to Nosferatu or Vampyr. Most distinct are the cues in art direction and score from Norwegian metal music, with the film's look being heavily inspired by album covers of the movement. All of these influences drive what makes us so passionate about bringing this unique film to life.

About the director

My name’s William Cassel. This is the part where I’d tell you when I started making movies, but I couldn’t tell you. I started that young! I’ve worked with people and won awards on an international scale. I currently study film at Pratt Institute in New York, serving as co-president of my film class alongside my fellow producer, Jacqueline. I love all movies, but horror is a particular interest, especially old horror. Now, I’m combining my experience with my personal interests to create the ultimate labor of love for my life so far: Pronouncement of Doom.
