Earlier this year, Peter Duc Nguyen fell victim to COVID-19 after landing back in Lousiana from a vacation in Vietnam. He spent nearly 1.5 months on a ventilator but made a full recovery. He went out fishing which was an activity that brought him much joy. 



Unfortunately, COVID-19 led to secondary complications of tuberculosis and hepatitis B.  He lost all function in his limbs and became fully bedridden. Due to COVID restrictions,  his daughter Leslie has been unable to come to Louisiana to visit her father. She is his only family member present in the United States. 

On October 16, 2020 Leslie received the news that he will not make it and his liver has given up. He is currently on life support awaiting for the arrivals of his beloved daughter to fly to make a pressing medical decision.

Leslie has been supporting her dad throughout his suffering while completing the last quarters of her Masters degree. In between her free time and school, she has spent hours talking on the phone with many ER doctors and specialists, researching about her dad’s conditions, and attempting to lift her father’s spirits.   It has been a painful process to watch her go through the roller coaster of ensuring her father gets the medical attention he desperately needed. There are days that were good and there were days that were bad, yet she never gave up on him. 

The funding raised will be going towards Leslie’s travel expenses and her dad’s  cremation and proper burial. It will also go towards to shipping fees to obtain Peter’s belongings.
