Bring Pelon Home

Donation protected
This is a fundraiser to bring my friend Ricardo (Pelon) Diaz home to his family whom he loves deeply. Pelon is one of the greatest humans I’ve ever met, one who I’ve come to call family. He is an extremely hard worker, working 2 and 3 jobs most days to provide for his family, he pays taxes, and never once took government assistance. He would do anything for someone in need, much like the time he saved a S. Knoxville family from a burning apartment building.  He is fiercly loyal to his friends, and he is devoutly religious.

Pelon is from Mexico. Almost 20 years ago he made a forever life-changing decision to enter this country illegally. He was caught and returned to Mexico. His next step, a mistake made as a teenager, will forever hang over his head. Why? Because he had a determination to make a better life than his home country could offer. He returned to the US and immediately started working. He sent money home to his family where jobs are few, and even harder to come by for those who are older, like his parents. While here he met, fell in love, and married his wife Crystal, and they had 3 children (Natalia, Ricky, and Isaiah). All of this done while living in a constant state of fear of being caught and sent away from his family.  Misty and I are proud to be Isaiah’s Godparents.

Pelon and Crystal have been working with an attorney for a long time, to work toward getting his citizenship. Pelon was contacted by immigration as part of a hardship application process his wife started over two years ago.  A process to legally request her husband, an illegal immigrant, be permitted to stay in the US. He voluntarily went to Memphis to be interviewed. They were told they passed the interview process to move to the next step. But once immigration realized he had been here before, they immediately separated Pelon and Crystal...and she wasn’t able to see him again. He was detained for almost a month before being deported back to Mexico, without seeing his children and wife.

I am starting this fundraiser to cover as much of, what is sure to be astronomical legal fees, to get legal representation for Pelon and his family and to help with costs for filing the forms in the next step of the hardship process. 100% of the money collected will go to the benefit of rebuilding this family. My goal is to collect as much as possible. This family is truly in need and have been devastated by what has happened.

Today, 3 great children and a wife are without a father and husband. Regardless of your beliefs on immigration, these are good and decent people and they are suffering today. They don’t deserve to suffer.

Anyone who knows me knows that I do support Donald Trump and support closing the southern border and creating a comprehensive immigration program that will allow great humans like Pelon, to become an American. Our immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed. With that being said, I don’t blame anyone for wanting to come to this great country and Pelon wants to be an American citizen. I love him and his family.

It was a difficult decision to start a GoFundMe fundraiser, but a family is in need and I want to do whatever I can for them. Please share this with anyone you think can help and thank you!
