I never thought I’d be doing this, but my friend of 60 years is in need. Let me tell you about Sara Krupa… Wow, my friend has been a nurse locally for 50 years. She has worked in the local hospitals, nursing homes, and hospice. Currently, she is a hospice case manager here in Cumberland County. She worked less than a month ago and then ended up in the hospital with shortness of breath. Two long weeks and now she's home with terminal cancer. Pancreatic cancer with metastasis. As most know, and Sara definitely knows, pancreatic cancer is a rapid decline to death illness. She openly tells friends and family she hopes for 6-8 weeks. How devastating to all. With this rapid decline, Greg has not been able to work and of course, expenses are even higher. Sara is at home and has requested hospice services… going from admitting patients less than a month ago to being admitted. The prognosis is very limited, as Sara is well aware of. She wishes for prayers (for comfort), cards, family, friends, and peace. No turmoil!
Sara and her husband, Greg, recently became guardians for her 15-year-old granddaughter. Sara continues as a hospice nurse trying to explain and comfort her granddaughter.
I (with her approval) am asking for any help that can be offered to Sara to help her and the family get through this terminal illness. All funds collected will go directly to Sara for expenses now and for the funeral. As a nurse, and like all other nurses, we love to give and give… but are not good at receiving and asking.
Paul reminds us in Corinthians 4.17, that our earthly troubles, which last only a short time, pale in comparison to our eternal glory. Sara has always put her trust in Jesus Christ our Savior and she continues to have strength and peace.
