Dear Friends
I am reaching out to invite you to be part of something bold, unsettling, and unforgettable: the filming of a short horror film, Sleep Study.
Sleep Study tells the story of a mysterious doctor who guides his forlorn patient through what begins as a routine medical procedure and spirals into a feverish nightmare. Inspired by the director’s own real-life experiences with sleep studies and unsettling doctor visits, this film blends psychological unease, surreal imagery, and body horror into a cinematic journey that asks: How do we confront the strange rituals of medicine and the vulnerability of being observed?
Director Bio:
Jamal Alexander's love for film began at a very early age when he first saw Tim Burton's Batman films. From that time on, he has tirelessly carved a path to a career directing films. He has taken opportunity to learn from the greats in his work as a celebrity guest assistant at Toronto's Fan Expo Canada and a Set Production assistant in the Director's Guild Of Canada, including working on Guillermo del Toro's Academy Award winning film, The Shape Of Water and Don Cheadle's The Big Cigar.
Jamal made his directorial debut with an acclaimed short film chiller, An Act Of Desperation. It is Jamal's passion to follow in the footsteps of his favorite filmmakers in the way of creating original, stylish, thought provoking, and at times shocking works of art for big screens all over the world.
To bring Sleep Study to the screen, we would truly appreciate your support in our efforts to raise the funds to bring this film to fruition.
Your contribution will fund:
• Production costs – set design, props, costumes, and practical effects.
• Cast and crew – fair pay for the talented artists and technicians bringing this story to life.
• Post-production – editing, sound design, and scoring to deliver a fully immersive experience.
Every donation, no matter the size, would be helpful. By supporting this project, you’re not only helping an independent Black filmmaker realize his vision, but also ensuring audiences get to experience a unique, unsettling story that explores the strange intersection of medicine, fear, and the human subconscious.
Thank you for considering supporting Sleep Study.
Sincerely,
Max Alexander & Corinne McCordick
