Hello Everyone, Timmy’s Parents Here – Perry and Sandra

So we got Timmy from our neighbour Uncle Mark when he was 6 weeks old. He was such a silly kitten. He liked to chase toys and play fetch and gradually slide off things backwards like our bed and the outside steps lol. Everybody in the community knows Timmy, like “oh hey it’s Timmy”. He was also kind of mischievous and liked to get into trouble as he got older.

When he was 6 months old he somehow knocked the dish soap off the counter and rolled around in it. It infected the skin on his leg. We had to take him the vet. She sedated him, shaved off the infected leg fur, gave him antibiotics, a cone of shame to wear for 6 weeks and antibiotic cream for us to put on him at home.

He recovered fine.

A couple months later for some reason we noticed he started to groom and itch himself more than usual. At first we thought nothing of it but then he kept grooming and itching more and more often. So we took him to the vet and she said he had fleas and gave him flea treatment.

We were relieved for a second. But it didn’t solve anything. He kept grooming and itching. His grooming and itching became so frequent to the point where patches of his fur were being groomed off and we were beginning to see bald spots.

So we took him back to the vet again and she gave him an anti-itch shot and an anti-allergy shot because she assumed he has allergies. She gave us an antibiotic to take home, Atopica, which we gave him everyday for 7 days and every other day for another 7 days. She also gave us hypoallergenic wipes and food.We saw a very small amount of improvement.

But then what seemed like 3 weeks later the grooming and itching returned and to the extreme. At this point we don’t even have words to describe it.

The poor guy has done nothing but constantly groom and itch. He doesn’t play anymore, doesn’t chase toys, doesn’t sleep by our feet – nothing. He actually doesn’t even have the energy to cause trouble. It’s so sad to see him do absolutely nothing but groom! You can tell he is just so frustrated and miserable. We can see it in his eyes. He is not the same cat!

He has groomed the fur off his body from the waist down. He’s also developed random scabs and red patches all over his body. He is about to groom all the way to his skin. He needs immediate veterinary care.

We want to take him the same vet he has had since a kitten, Dr. Mandy Simk at Parkgate Bird and Animal Hospital in North Vancouver. She is his family vet, he feels safe and comfortable around her and she knows his medical history.

So we’re reaching out for help because we have depleted our own funds but more importantly because we want our family member Timmy back! He’s positively affected so many people’s lives, from his family to fellow cats, to members of the community. We simply want to get him the help he needs because he deserves it and because we deeply love him. He's "Our Timmy".

Any donations help and are greatly appreciated, $1, $5, $20 - even just sharing our gofundme link.

Thank-you and Much Love
