Welcome to the thunderstorm. We are the creative team behind Old Man Lightning, a comedic climbing comeback film that just shocked the outdoor world by winning Best Climbing Film at the prestigious Banff International Film Festival, alongside other awards. Part Rocky, part Monty Python, and described by critics as the "Spinal Tap of climbing films," this project is proof that getting older doesn't mean you stop making noise.
The film stars the myth, the man, the curmudgeon himself: John "Verm" Sherman. For the uninitiated, John is to bouldering what Thomas Jefferson is to democracy—he literally created the universal V scale system used to grade boulder problems worldwide. Now, 25 years older, 40 pounds heavier, and fueled by a heavy dose of beerlust and bird photography, the legend is trying to reclaim his mojo by scaling Yosemite's mythical Midnight Lightning. We bypassed the boring Hollywood studio suits to bring this raw, hilarious story straight to the people.
We’ve conquered the film festivals, but getting an independent movie distributed globally so everyone can actually watch it requires some cold, hard cash. Your support goes directly toward music licensing, theatrical distribution, and keeping our crew at happy hour. If you want to back an award-winning cinematic revolution—or just want to brag that you helped bring the godfather of bouldering to screens worldwide—this is your moment. Drop some cash in the bucket, share the link, and let's go make some lightning!
