Bring Old Blue Back for Future Generations
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Ben, and I am asking for help returning my family truck to the road. My Grandfather bought “Old Blue” back in 1970. It has been in my family since that day. It was passed down to my Dad, who passed it down to me. I hope to do the same one day to my son.
As a child, Old Blue took my family on many trips. From Minnesota to Texas, and everywhere East. My siblings and I recall riding in the back camper shell for many trips. I remember Mom driving the four of us kids through downtown New York City!
My Dad taught me how to drive a manual with Old Blue. I drove him while in college (I even let my now wife drive him a couple of times in college!) and taught my three kids how to drive a manual with him. There’s nothing cooler to me than his “Three on a tree.” I have owned the truck for thirty-five years. It’s in my DNA. It always makes me feel close to my Dad, Mom, and Grandfather. I LOVE THIS TRUCK. I will never part with him.
But due to life events, Old Blue has sat for nearly a decade. His tires have dry rotted. The entire brake system needs repair. I’m certain the current gas tank will need to be replaced. And no telling what the engine will need.
Cosmetics will matter one day. But my main wish is to get him back on the road.
This is a different GoFundMe. While my current health is an issue that I’d rather not disclose, I am not homeless. But my wife and I do live paycheck to paycheck, as do so many others, trying to make ends meet. However, my health issue does make time important. To get him back on the road. Not showroom condition. Or fully restored. But safe and drivable around town. And ensure it will be so for my kids to enjoy what was originally their great grandfather's truck when new.
In the world of electric and hybrid vehicles, a 55-year-old truck is pretty cool. And my family shares the same love for Old Blue.
With your donations, I can get the work completed to get this old truck back on the road and restore the memories of generations gone by for my family.
This is my dream. Thank you for reading this. And thank you in advance if your generosity is extended to me. Life is short and should be enjoyed while we still can. Thank you.
