Hello! My name is Kennedi Williams (She/Her). I am currently in my senior year at Loyola University Chicago, studying Film and Digital Media. With the help of an incredibly talented cast and crew, we are in the pre-production phase on my directorial thesis and short film, Nosedive, and I would be so grateful for your support in bringing this story to life!

Nosedive is a queer coming-of-age romantic comedy about two childhood best friends sitting on a long-buried secret, whose relationship is quietly, irrevocably altered when a party game finally drags it into the open. Over the course of a memorable night, they must confront feelings, memories, and a wound that has shaped their connection for far too long.

At its heart, Nosedive is a story about vulnerability: the terrifying, beautiful experience of “spilling your guts” to the person who knows you best, desperately hoping they feel the same. It is about the sacredness of growing up, first loves, and the moments in life that require us to lay down the armor we’ve spent years learning to wear, especially for the one person who matters most.

As a queer woman who grew up without stories like this, telling this story is deeply important to me. Too often, queer women are portrayed through narratives of tragedy, suffering, or in relation to heterosexuality and the male gaze. Those stories are valuable; however, I also believe there is real, necessary power in seeing queer people simply exist in their joy, their longing, and their love, freely, without tragedy as the price of admission.

When has loving someone ever been the wrong way to live?

Nosedive is a testament to queer joy. This short film imagines queer love not as something that must be defended or explained, but rather, as something sacred and worthy of tenderness. Growing up, seeing queer women in stories centered around softness, intimacy, and healing was quite uncommon in the media. With Nosedive, I hope to reach queer women, especially those in younger generations, who need(ed) a queer joy romance film in their childhood and to remind them: love, in all its forms, is sacred.
