Roxanne Mathews, a single, 39-year old female Canadian citizen, is stuck in Ghana, Africa, with her 5-year old daughter, Nevaeh, whom she legally finalized the adoption of in March of 2020.
Roxanne and her daughter have now spent many months, including Christmas, in Africa amongst the Coronavirus pandemic. They want and, more importantly, need to come home to Canada.
Roxanne and Nevaeh cannot board a plane for Canada until the High Commission of Canada in Ghana (a member of the IRCC) completely processes and approves Nevaeh’s immigration application and issues her a Facilitation Visa approving her to travel. This is all that they are waiting for, and have been waiting for, since March of 2020.
Roxanne has attempted reaching out to the High Commission of Canada in Ghana and also to the IRCC in Ottawa regarding her daughter’s application, but neither have provided any help, simply stating that “application timelines cannot currently be provided due to Covid.”
Please can you help? We need to get Roxanne and Nevaeh home to Canada. The Canadian Government needs to be more responsible for its citizens abroad, especially during a global pandemic, and Canadian Immigration needs to be more quick on their feet in processing adoption immigration applications to Canadian citizen parents, again even more so during a global pandemic.
Please, we want our family home. Please share this message to everyone you can.
Help us bring Nevaeh and Roxanne home.
All monetary donations are greatly appreciated and will go toward the extended time period living expenses of Nevaeh and Roxanne while they continue to be abroad in Africa, such as accommodation, food, transportation, and other everyday living needs.
