Help Nate Fight a Gross Miscarriage of Justice—and Keep His Family Together
My name is Meghan Roche, and I’m asking for your help on behalf of my partner, Nate Domineck—a hardworking 25-year-old father of one, stepfather to my son, and soon-to-be dad of another baby boy we’re expecting this year.
Just last week, we signed a lease on our first home together. We finally felt like we were getting our feet under us. But everything changed in a moment.
A Two-Year-Old Misunderstanding Just Took Him Away From Us.
In July of this year, Nate was summoned to court over an incident that happened 2 years ago. With no money to hire an attorney, Nate had no choice but to rely on a public defender who barely met with him and, unbelievably, spent time taking Instagram selfies in the litigation room instead of preparing Nate’s case.
Under pressure and with no proper legal support, Nate was convinced to accept a no contest plea—only to receive a sentence twice as harsh as what the prosecutor had originally offered.
He was hauled off to jail on the spot.
And now, unless we act quickly, Nate is being transferred to state prison for a year.
Nate’s family, my family, and I, seek to hire a lawyer to appeal his sentence. We think we have a chance at correcting this injustice:
•There was no body camera footage that showed obstruction of an officer.
•He was released on bond, meaning he was not considered a threat.
•He did not have adequate legal representation.
•He has shown remorse, has not had any legal troubles since the incident, and has maintained employment (he was even recently promoted at work!).
This Isn’t Just About Nate—It’s About Keeping a Family Together
If Nate goes to prison:
• He’ll miss the birth of our child.
• He won’t be able to care for his son or my son, both just five years old.
• He won’t be able to provide for us or help us keep the roof we just secured.
• And I’ll be left alone, pregnant and struggling to hold things together.
All this over a misdemeanor-level incident from two years ago.
What’s worse—when Nate showed up to court, he brought numerous letters from friends and coworkers speaking to his integrity, growth, and contributions over the last two years. It’s unclear if the judge even read them. That day, the judge reportedly heard over 127 cases—and handed down a sentence more severe than even the prosecutor recommended.
This is a miscarriage of justice. Period.
Here’s What We’re Asking For
We need to raise $10,000 to help Nate:
• Retain competent legal counsel
• Withdraw the original plea
• Fight the charges with the defense he never got the first time
Anything raised beyond that will go toward helping me and our boys keep our home and stay afloat while Nate is gone.
Our lives were finally coming together. We had jobs that balanced child care. We found housing in Coweta County that was affordable and safe. And now, in a single moment, it’s all at risk—because of one bad lawyer and a broken system.
Will You Help Us Fight Back?
If you can give, please know every dollar will go toward reuniting a father with his family and giving him the fair legal fight he never had.
And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign could make all the difference.
Thank you for standing with us. Your support could bring a father home, give a child his dad back, and help our family stay together during the most critical time in our lives.
