Hi, I’m Kroosh! I’ve spent 20+ years restoring and mending textiles–skills passed down from my great aunt and grandmother. After relocating to SLC in 2024, I launched MakeAmends, a repair service that’s now opening a brick-and-mortar studio on Nov 3,2025. The next step: a mobile mending van so people can access repairs where they already are–libraries, apartments, and small businesses–with same-day simple fixes and easy drop-offs.
Why this matters
Awareness and access keep many garments from being saved. Dry cleaners offer fewer repair options, and techniques like re-weaving are becoming rare. A mobile setup makes mending convenient, affordable, and visible, reducing textile waste and keeping beloved pieces in use.
Goal: $2,500
Your gift funds:
- Sturdy sewing-machine friendly table in van
- Van electrical upgrades (battery bank + 12V outlets) for on-location mends
