Mimpi came to me June 3rd of 2019 during my stay in Indonesia.
I had read of the fostering event that was to be put on by a local non profit organization I had previously volunteered for. Excited to attend, I had no idea what was to come.
“She’s real feisty isn’t she!?” I smiled lending my fingers to the pup
“Oooh yes that one has quite a lot of personality”
There in a wire cage a tiny scrappy puppy begged to be let out. She was the first and only puppy I held in my arms that day. The moment I held her I knew she was coming home with me. Her spirit outshined her physical appearance. No more than a couple of pounds, stumped tail,hairless, skin waxy and warm to the touch with a sea of bumps covering her from head to paw.
Her story:
Abandoned, covered in scabies and severely dehydrated and malnourished Mimpi was found on a beach at only a couple of weeks of age before she was rescued. It was not long before our month together would begin. During the care of Mimpi she endured diarrhea,parasites, worms, dehydration, and an anal prolapse. Even so she proved resilient and full of joy.
Everywhere we went from cafes to boats rides on the ocean little Mimpi stole the hearts of everyone she crossed paths with.
She grew stronger, bolder, brighter eyed, hairier! When I returned her to rescue office on my last day she was unrecognizable to some of the staff. She had transformed from looking like a little fruit bat to a shiny coated pup!
It breaks my heart to have to leave her behind. With an overpopulation of dogs in Indonesia and the cruel belief that female dogs bring bad luck into the home, many remain without a forever home. The rescue team does the best they can but with the numbers of animals coming into their care and not enough donations from the community, providing space becomes trickier and trickier leading employees to house multiple litters in their own homes.
Which is why I am asking for your help! It would be a DREAM to get her over to the USA with me where her and I will continue to grow stronger together
But there isn’t much time!
An employe from the rescue center is making a trip from Seattle August 16th She’s offered to help transport Mimpi on her journey.
I am going through Christe Pet Mover Agency to help set up Mimpis permit and papers that will qualify her to travel abroad. CPM needs payment three weeks before transportation date which means I have until July 22nd. That leaves three weeks to raise $1500
I believe this is possible! My heart goes out to each and every one of you and I appreciate any help!
