********UPDATE #1 *******
Here's an update on Miguel's situation, focusing on the actions being taken and the progress made:
The GoFundMe campaign for Miguel is really taking off, and that's incredibly helpful for the family. We've spent the last several days reaching out to anyone who can help bring Miguel home.
Alameda County Board of Supervisors, District 1, is working with us to answer any questions we may have. Through Livermore Indivisible, Miguel’s case also caught the attention of the Tri-Valley Indivisible chapter. The president of the Tri-Valley Chapter happened to be in Washington D.C., and he called Rosa directly from there. He let her know they talked with staff from both Eric Swalwell’s legislative team and Rep. Mark DeSaulnier’s office about Miguel’s case. They said they'll pass the information on to the Congressmen tomorrow when the House reconvenes. These discussions have given the family a strong sense of hope.
In terms of media attention, Telemundo’s Jessica Gallegos , is currently meeting with the family. As she was leaving ABC news and KTVU were calling to interview Rosa. We'd love to see Miguel's story get out to other news stations as well, and we are open to any ideas about reaching more media outlets.
Also, a peaceful protest to bring Miguel home is in the works. This community is incredible, and the family truly wants to thank everyone for their support and for every single donation. When Rosa spoke to Miguel last night, she told him we're working with everyone we can to bring him home, and she said he had a smile with tears in his eyes.
We know this is just the beginning, and a long legal battle lies ahead your donations are incredibly helpful.

Help Bring Miguel Angel Lopez Home: A Family Torn Apart, A Community Rallies
Dear friends, family, and compassionate community members,
I'm reaching out to you today with an urgent plea for help on behalf of one of my students and their family. Their world was turned upside down when Miguel Angel Lopez, a beloved father, grandfather, and dedicated Livermore community member, was suddenly taken and is now being detained in a deportation center in McFarland, California. The heartbreaking reality is that authorities are preparing to send him back to Mexico, tearing him away from the life and family he has built here.
For the past 27 years, Miguel has called Livermore home. He is a familiar face at a local winery, where he has worked diligently for the last nine years. A married man, Miguel is the loving patriarch and the main provider for his family, including his children and grandchildren. He is a tax-paying resident who deeply loves and contributes to our Livermore community. For years, Miguel has been working tirelessly with a lawyer, pursuing the path towards U.S. citizenship, demonstrating his commitment to legally establishing his life here.
Now, his family faces an unimaginable challenge, grappling with the fear and uncertainty of his impending deportation. The legal battle to bring Miguel safely home is daunting and incredibly expensive. We are seeking financial relief to cover crucial legal fees and provide much-needed financial aid to his family as they navigate this traumatic and uncertain time.
Every dollar you contribute will directly support Miguel's fight to return to his family and the community he cherishes. Please, if you are able, help us keep this family together and bring Miguel Angel Lopez safely home. Your generosity, no matter the size, will make an immense difference.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
