My husband, Michael Zongo, was brought into the United States at the age of 9. His parents and he were brought to Grove Hill, AL where his parents were promised a better life than the life in Burkina Faso, Africa. Michael is currently 29 years old and has been a legal permanent resident of the United States for many years. He has continually updated his green card as was required. He now also has other siblings here that are permanent residents as well. Michael and I were married in July of 2022 and our wedding celebration was set to take place on February 18, 2023. Unfortunately, Michael was arrested by ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) on February 16th just two days before our celebration. As you can imagine we were completely shocked and devastated. Michael was told he was arrested on probable cause due to a situation that took place more than 5 years ago. This situation was dealt with through the court system and we thought was settled in September 2022. However, Michael is currently being held in Jena, LA at a detention facility for immigrants. We have been told the process to keep him here in the United States could potentially be lengthy and very costly. This page has been set up to help with these costs. We would appreciate ANY help to keep my husband here where his and our life is. Our prayer is that he will soon be released and can become a citizen of the United States.
