I'm raising funds to help cover emergency vet expenses for Maleficent. We had to rush her to the Emergency vet this morning. She's been coughing on-and-off for a bit, but has been acting fine otherwise (still eating like normal, playing, acting like herself). This morning things progressed at an extremely scary rate, to where she was open-mouth panting and fighting for air. We rushed her to the ER immediately, and they intubated her as soon as she arrived. She's currently in a 60% oxygen kennel to try and improve her O2 levels, and on a list of medications to try to get her stable (bronchial dilator, steroids, & antibiotics). They did bloodwork, x-rays, and a few other tests. As of now, she has elevated Carbon Dioxide levels in her blood, highly acidic blood, and some inflammation in her lungs. Currently they're thinking she has Aspiration Pneumonia on top of chronic asthma. They have her under close monitoring, and are waiting to see if the Oxygen deprivation has caused any long-term brain or lung damage. They're expecting to keep her for a few days until she's stable enough to come home. Once she does, she will be on an inhaler and list of meds for the rest of her life. I spend every second of my life with this girl, there are no words for any of this, or what it does to the mental not having my sweet girl at home where she belongs. Anything helps at this point, we're already over $6k in expenses for this, and have been told it will go up by the time we're able to bring her home.
